How to Apply
The steps to becoming a foster parent are simple: call Apelah, and our Foster Care Recruiter/Trainer will help you with the application process. Because Apelah is a specialized care provider, you must apply through our agency rather than through the state. After your application and background check have been processed, you will participate in a home study and receive training to make sure that you and your home are ready.
To become a foster parent with Apelah you must:
Complete required training
Provide four (4) references
Participate in the Home Study process
Be at least 21 years of age
Have financial stability
Be in good health
Submit to background checks and fingerprint testing
Foster parents may be married or single. Those with or without children are also free to apply.
Coordinated care of children
Foster parents who are well matched to the needs of the child
Access to 24 hour case management support
